One into Another

The surrealist game conducted by our group is called "One into Another", and it draws comparisons based on certain characteristics that unite two unique objects. A player would give a detailed description of an object, awaiting for the rest of the players to guess the correct word for the description, that answer would then be used as a reference for the following description and the next description should then be answered correctly.

Our game began with a christmas tree, gina and vanessa were in charge of addressing to the class the poetic representation of the tree awaiting for the class to answer. Once answered, Christopher and I walked into the class reciting the next description, which related to the christmas tree's characteristics, the correct answer which was answered by a young man sitting behind Dr. Francis was attic. Gina came up with using the description of a sword and comparing it directly to a knife, which was then answered quickly by another who admitted seeing the answer in the book before class. Running swiftly out of gaming options, I thought about using my poem relating the sun's identity, which was then answered briefly by John. Dr. Francis then stated the importance of jumping into another object from the sun's characteristics, for that was the goal of the game, and so we compared the sun's warmth to that of a contrasting object. The igloo as stated by John once again, is made out of freezing ice, nevertheless it still provides warmth to those who chose it as shelter.

This game is a great exercise for the mind. Player's drift through their mind's content to relate two different objects, their mind's content of course is the main key to excelling in this game. The mind's content provides options from which to chose, the analyzing and concluding of the matter at hand is then derived from a player's wit. The Surrealist perspective that surrounds the game, entices players to exercise their mind both creatively and objectively; for the comparisons and conclusions may be endless, but the correct and final answer that concludes the game leaves the players appreciating every detail of the two objects with more thorough understanding. This game propels students and thinkers to go beyond it, to see new ways in which to think and travel in the inner core of our imagination.

The Game Of Variants.

Game Description:
for any number of players.
This is a simply the parlour-game 'Chinese Whispers.' The company sits in a circle. The first player tells a story to his neighbour, who tells the same story to the next player, and so on. The first and the last stories are then compared.

Original: Multi-Vehicle Crash
Ten people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash near the North "I" road exit at Expressway 83 on Wednesday.
Seven vehicles reportedly crashed along the highway's westbound lane about 6 p.m.
The wounded were taken to area hospitals with injuries deemed not life-threatening.
No fatalities were reported.
Some of the vehicles caught fire.
Officials with the Pharr Police Department which is investigating the wreck, could not say what caused the initial crash.
The sun had just set and a faint drizzle left the roads slick Wednesday evening.

Outcomes:
1. 1st story was very similar but some details were distorted.
John said that "the police didn't know what the hell happened" and that it was sunny and that there were no injuries.
2. Jessse said it was a story instead of a news bulletin.
3. The next three player said it was a story too and condense it even more to just an accident with no injuries on a sunny rainy
day.
4. The last person just said it was an accident where no one was injured and it happened on a rainy day

Re-Assembling Reality

This method was invented by Max Ernst by pasting together fragments of given or found pictures. By using images that had similar 'look' he was able to create 'illusionistic' new pictures, that were bizarre, fantastic, dream-like, ironic, or grotesque.

The Purpose of the Game

This game is to challenge our creative side by giving us limited resources. In this game we gave out about 8 magazine cut-outs, the student got out a clean sheet of paper and glue the different images together to create or recreate an image of real life. The purpose of the game was to see how the students would use the cut outs magazines to create a scene, and by pictures posted, we could see how creative they were.

Automatic Drawing

Game Description:
In this surrealist game a person is to draw without thinking. A suggestion is to not lift the pencil from the paper and let your hand move randomly across the paper. The image created is thought to be the expression of the subconscious mind bringing out thoughts, behavoirs, and personalities which would otherwise be repressed.

In class demonstration:
The following is artwork developed by the many talented students in class. Although these drawing can have different representations to different people, we labled some of them according to what we thought we saw them reflect.
